Partnership Meeting under BIO2CARE Project in the Greek Town of Xanthi
The meeting was dedicated to the just finished first year of the project (20.10.2017 – 19.10.2018), reporting of the activities carried out, analysis of the difficulties and challenges, and planning of the successful finalization of the running reporting period by the end of 2018, plus starting the next one in January 2019.
Progress was reported on the scientific research related to the development and application of innovative methodologies and technologies for evaluating the status of the environment and anthropogenic pressure impact on the two project territories: the Nestos Delta and Lakes Vistonida-Ismarida National Park in Greece and the Rila National Park in Bulgaria with accent on the catchemtn area of Blagoevgradska Bistritsa River. Until the end of the year, it is expected that results from methodologies testings will come out, followed by the results from research of the symbiotic potential and assessment of the benefits of circular economy on the environment.
Activities have been started for the construction of small visitor infrastructure for people with special needs in the area of Ril aNP and the Greek Municipality of Nestos, as well as the development of special mobile applications and software, and application of high-technology systems for monitoring of human activities and most of all tourism in the project territories. The development of a system for certifying and promoting sustainable activities in these same territories is also under way.
