Strategic planning for cultural tourism in the cross-border area between Bulgaria and North Macedonia

The Pirin Tourism Forum prepared a Cross-Border Strategy for Cultural Heritage – Friendly Environment in the cross-border region Bulgaria – North Macedonia. The document was commissioned by the Kyustendil Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the project CB006.2.23.044 – A Culture Heritage – Friendly Tourism in Cross-Border Region Bulgaria – Macedonia, co-funded by the EU through the Interreg-IPA CBC Programme between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.

The paper analyzes the resources of cultural tourism in the District of Kyustendil, Bulgaria, and the Northeast Planning Region, North Macedonia, proposing strategic approaches for the establishment of a favorable environment for the development of this type of tourism, in view of the preservation of the valuable cultural heritage of the cross-border area.
